THE PROJECT

THE PROJECT

DO YOU HAVE THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS ON THE TOPIC OF IMMIGRATION?

PERHAPS YOU HAVE PERSONAL EXPERIENCES WITH IMMIGRATION?

DO YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO TRANSLATE THOSE EXPERIENCES AND EMOTIONS INTO VISUAL MEDIA?

PERHAPS YOU HAVE GREAT WRITTEN STORYTELLING ABILITIES?

Visions of Immigration: Sculpting the Mosaic focuses on exploring the topic of immigration and allows artists to creatively explore their thoughts, experiences, and storytelling abilities on its subject, creating a unique sensory environment.

The title takes inspiration from former US President Jimmy Carter’s 1976 speech lamenting that: 'we have become not a melting pot but a beautiful mosaic. Different people, different beliefs, different yearnings, different hopes, different dreams’.

Consequently, this project aims to cultivate the real and imaginative experiences of migrants and strike important discussions on the topic at a time when significant immigration policies such as the Rwandan asylum policy take place within the United Kingdom.
